Mount Egerton ride looking good

Drakie was out yesterday (Tuesday) marking out the course for Sunday’s event. He was pretty excited about the mixture of riding conditions that he was able to include:
“There’s all sorts of stuff. Loam, clay, gravel, fire trails, gnarly pine tree roots, rocks and even a water crossing that’s about rim deep. Honestly, there’s so much variety here it’s amazing...”
The loop is about 25kms around, and should take 45 – 60 minutes to complete.
We’re also happy to say that there are shelters, toilets and even showers* at the start area we’ll be using.
There'll be plenty of forms available at the start area, so entry on the day is fine. The event will commence at 10am, after a rider's briefing at 9.30am.

Important Mount Egerton update!

It has just been revealed that we will not be able to use the Mount Egerton Reserve for the event on Sunday 3 June.

The event will still take place in the Whipstick Forest however this development means that the start area will be at the Ballan end of the Whipstick Forest. To get there, head south from Ballan towards Meredith on the Geelong – Ballan Road, and then turn right onto the Ballan – Egerton Road. About three kms along this road is a bridge. From the bridge, just follow the signs.

It also means that no-one will be able to camp at the Mount Egerton Reserve. Unfortunately there are no camping facilities at the revised start area. For those travelling some distance to attend, it might be a good idea to seek accommodation in nearby Ballan or Ballarat.

We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause to entrants.

On a positive note, Drakie is heading out to begin marking the course this week. He is confident that the event will be something that everyone will enjoy.

You will be able to enter on the day. Please try and bring the correct change.

After a few hiccups getting this event to happen, what else could possibly go wrong?!

HBBB changes cut off, but Vic vinduros remain pre '85

The Motorcycling Australia (MA) Museum and Heritage Committee has decided to change the eligibility cut-off date for motorcycle entries for the 2013 HBBB. It will be the same 25-year rolling date as applied to Club Permit Registered motorcycles.

More details are available here.

This change does not apply to Victorian vinduros. They will continue to be run on the existing Pre '85 format.

Vinduro bikes at the 2012 Kenda Rally

As expected this popular rally was fully subscribed, and a full complement of 500 riders was on hand to tackle the challenging conditions. Naturally it was mostly late model bikes, but a handful of brave souls took up the invitation extended by the ADMCC, and entered this event on vinduro bikes.
Drakie picked up a prize for piloting his 1979 SWM around both loops (something about oldest combined age of bike and rider). Darren was also there on an XR200 and Alex on his PE400. There was at least one other pre 85 XR200 too.
A special mention must go to Brendan who gamely piloted a 1973 Yamaha AT3 (125cc) around the first loop. The bike was in very original condition, and even had dual purpose tyres on it.
The rally was well organised, and enjoyed by all. The ADMCC will also be hosting the Sawmill Rally later in the year.

Take the HBBB survey

In the afterglow of this year’s successful Honda Broadford Bike Bonanza we’d like to get some feedback about the event. Could you take a few minutes to fill out this survey and send it onto anyone else that you know went to it; or more importantly someone who has been previously but didn’t go this year.

Hope to see you all next year.

Cheers,
